All generic domain name extensions and some country-code ones support a security lock option whose purpose is to block unwanted transfers of active domains. Many domain registry operators that oversee country-code Top-Level Domains that don’t support this feature are in the process of adopting it for the sake of safety and for the convenience of the domain owners. A domain can be transferred only if it is unlocked and only an individual who has been given access to the account with the current domain name registrar can do that. New domain names are registered with the lock option enabled on purpose, so as to stop any unapproved transfer attempts. The lock option is one of the safety measures for regulating the transfer of existing domain names between domain registrars that have been adopted over the years.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with each and every hosting package that we offer, will grant you full authority over your domains. You’ll see all domains registered through our company neatly listed in alphabetical order in a separate Control Panel section. Those whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a tiny padlock icon next to them. By clicking on the icon, you can find out if the given domain name is locked or unlocked and you can alter the current status by clicking again – the procedure is as simple as that. You won’t have to wait for the change to take effect or for our company to do anything, as the change of the status takes effect instantly, even if you see something else on WHOIS lookup sites. After all, it takes time for such sites to ‘refresh’ the info that they show.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you have registered a domain through our company and you wish to transfer it, you can quickly unlock it via the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All registrations will be displayed in alphabetical order in your account and you’ll notice a mini padlock icon on the right side of each domain there, provided that its generic or country-code extension supports the registrar lock feature. You can see if the domain is locked or not by clicking on this icon and modify the current status by clicking on it once more. You can then proceed and start the domain transfer straight away without having to wait for the status to change on WHOIS lookup websites, as the change will propagate immediately without you or us having to do anything else.
