The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, indicate which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific hosting provider for your domain address is the most convenient way to forward it to their system and all its sub-records will be managed on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etc, if you wish to change any of these records, you are going to be able to do it using their system. Put simply, the NS records of a domain address show the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the domain name you are trying to reach. That way the site that you'll see will be retrieved from the right location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain name has at least two NS records. There is absolutely no practical difference between the two prefixes, so what type a hosting provider will use depends completely on their preference.

NS Records in Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our hosting products, allows you to deal with the name servers of each domain registered through us with only a few clicks, so even when you haven't had a web hosting plan or a domain address before, you'll not encounter any difficulties. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, features a very user-friendly interface and will permit you to change the NS records of any domain address or even a number of domains all at once. In addition we offer you the chance to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every domain registered inside the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IP addresses - either ours, if you're going to use the child NS to direct the domain to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to direct the domain name to their system. In contrast to other companies, we do not charge additional for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The name servers for each domain that's registered through our company can be changed with no more than a few mouse clicks through the innovative, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia CP that is included with all semi-dedicated server plans. It is just as easy to view the current NS records for a specific domain address and to determine if they're the ones that are necessary for the domain name to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to allow you to control any domain address with ease even if you have not dealt with such matters before. If you want, you can even register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not only for the domain under which they are set up, but also for any other domain address that you would like to host inside the very same account. This feature is very useful if you have clients of your own and you would like their sites to use your own name servers rather than our default ones. The service is available free of charge.
